Paul Pillot Chass Montrachet Mazures 2018Paul Pillot

A small estate of 0.63 ha planted entirely with Chardonnay gives rise to this lieu-dit of Paul Pillot. In our opinion, perhaps a very emblematic wine of the Domaine that gives us a good measure of the quality of its work in vineyard and cellar without the need to release the money that cost the most expensive wines of the Domaine.
The origins of Domaine Paul Pillot date back to the second half of the 19th century, when Jean Baptiste Pillot combines his work as a cooper with that of winemaker. Today, in the 21st century, it is Thierry, great-grandson of Jean Baptiste, who takes the reins of the Domaine that bears the name of Paul Pillot, his father. Thierry, thirty years old, is helped by his little sister Chrystelle. Paul Pillot's style is that of absolute respect for the grape, which in his wines is never masked by wood (ironic if we think that the origin of the winery is that of a cooper). The wines are aged in French oak barrels, a percentage of which is new and ranges from 20 or 25% of the simplest wines to a maximum of 50% for Premier Cru in the largest vintages.

Morstein is a cool, relatively high-altitude vineyard, mainly made of limestone. The vines at Morstein were replanted in 2012. They are Moselle clones, most of which come from Nick Weis. Morstein wines are spicy, powerful, deep.
In Peter Lauer all GGs have a relatively long maceration time of 6 to 12 hours. Whole grape pressing, spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels and aging on lees. The wine is 100% slate from the Ayler Lagen vineyard. There are only 2.5 acres. Very old vines, some with real roots, mini yields.
One of our oldest direct import wines, and now in the last great vintage, 2018. Coming from the estate located just above the winery, this wine comes from a lieu-dit of the AOC Morgon, called Cote du Py. Located on a hillside of volcanic origin, the soils are granite and basalt, and give rise to a wine in which the fruit is cherry and has a remarkable...
