Katharina Wechsler Riesling Morstein 2018

Morstein is a cool, relatively high-altitude vineyard, mainly made of limestone. The vines at Morstein were replanted in 2012. They are Moselle clones, most of which come from Nick Weis. Morstein wines are spicy, powerful, deep. Katharina's wine comes from somewhat younger vineyards that are not yet able to fully transfer this immense power of the vineyard. The nose is a little more yellow fruity than Kirchspiel, also some red fruit underneath, ripe yellow melon, apricot and yellow peach, fine grapefruit inserts, radiating beautiful harmony. On the palate clearly more power and pull than Kirchspiel, very long, showing beautiful opulence and always remaining flexible, herbal, extremely juicy. High extract as corresponds to the 2018 vintage, 13% alcohol and 4 grams of residual sugar. RP92
