Maçanita Douro Os Caniveis Branco 2024

Os Canivéis Branco is a white wine crafted by winemakers Joana Maçanita and António Maçanita in the Douro region of Portugal. This wine comes from a collection of parcels located in Carlão, at an altitude of 520 meters, where soils transition from schist to granite.

The vines, ranging in age from 80 to 92 years, host a rare composition of 9 traditional white grape varieties from the Douro, resulting in a unique and surprising wine that highlights the potential of the lesser-known and undervalued Douro.The grapes are hand-harvested, and the winemaking process includes whole cluster pressing, cold decantation, and spontaneous fermentation.

The wine is aged for 12 months, with 75% in neutral barrels and 25% in horizontal stainless steel tanks. This process allows the wine to develop a distinctive character and great durability.In the glass, Os Canivéis Branco presents a citrus yellow color with soft citrus aromas.

On the palate, it offers a dense attack and balanced acidity, with a rich and persistent aftertaste. It is a fresh wine with great persistence, ideal for pairing with fish, seafood, and white meats. It is recommended to serve at 10ºC and enjoy at 12ºC to fully appreciate its complexity and freshness.
