A more affordable wine than El Barco del Corneta, but with the same workmanship. A great white wine made from organically grown Verdejo.
Barco del Corneta is the story of Beatriz Herranz, who in 2013 settled in the Cantarranas area in the middle of the Verdejo oasis in La Seca. It is an oasis because its siliceous sand and pebble soils rest on deep clay and limestone soil. There could be no better soil.
We are talking about vineyards at 700 meters of altitude, which suffer from long and cold winters, hot and very dry summers, and the vineyards are forced to go deep into the ground in search of water and nutrients. This is how Verdejo gives the most of itself, especially when grown organically (certified from the 2019 harvest) and respecting the environment and the vineyard.
In Alcazarén Beatriz finds vines more than a century old, of clones that were not selected at that time for their productivity, but for their quality. It is Verdejo with capital letters.
