A perfect wine to start in the Riesling of the Moselle, from one of our fetish wineries in the area, with a vineyard in some of the best Moselle vineyards. Weingut Kerpen cannot be more Moselle. The family house, in whose underground and annexes the winery is located, is on the North bank of the Mosel river as it passes through Wehlen. In fact, just over 100 meters away on the other side of this calm navigable river, is one of the most famous payments in Germany, Wehlener Sonnenuhr (which literally means “Wehlen's sundial”). And this curiosity is not trivial, because the history of the Kerpen is inextricably linked to that of their plots in this historic estate, from which their best wines come. As you probably imagine, in Germany the best vineyards on the Moselle are those with a southern orientation, which allow the best insolation and, therefore, that the grapes reach their maturity regularly. That is why, in the best plots, those that have a totally south orientation, it is common to find a sundial that, as everyone knows, is not very useful if we oriented it to the north.
