Luneau Papin La Grange Vielles Vignes 2023

La Grange Vielles Vignes comes from a vineyard planted in 194 on schists and mycoschists in Le Landreau, the same village where the Luneau Papin winery is located. It is a set of subplots with the same soil component that has been grown organically since 2009, all of them with a high planting density of 6,500 hectares. Melon de Bourgogne is harvested by hand, gently pressed and spontaneously fermented with the grape's own yeasts. The must then goes to underground tanks that are the norm in Muscadet, covered with glass, where they spend seven months refining with the lees until it is bottled in the spring following the harvest. This is an entry-level wine from Luneau Papin, but what a great entry-level wine. Do not think that it does not age. It may not reach two decades like its older brother Le L dOr, but try to wait for it for a couple of years, if you can resist enjoying it as an accompaniment to fish and shellfish, or simply as an aperitif.
