Scritch Hautes Cotes de Beaune Blanc 2023

Scritch Hautes Côtes de Beaune Blanc is a white wine crafted by Cyprien Arlaud using Chardonnay grapes from a plot located in the Beaune region, in Burgundy, France.

The soils are calcareous. Harvested by hand, the grapes undergo a long whole-cluster pressing to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine is aged on the lees, mainly in tank with 20% aged in Burgundy barrels. Malolactic fermentation adds roundness and balance. The wine is racked by gravity and bottled without fining, in accordance with the lunar cycle.

A tense, mineral, and precise white that faithfully conveys the geological singularity of the Côte de Beaune.Scritch is the onomatopoeia of chalk writing on a blackboard and evokes the calcareous soils that Cyprien Arlaud works with to produce his range of white wines.
