Vinha Centenaira has that name because, you have guessed it, it is made with grapes from a vineyard planted more than a hundred years ago in Pico, in the Azores. It is a small vineyard, where mainly Arinto das Azores is planted, which accounts for almost ninety percent, and accompanied by others such as Verdelho and Alicante Branco. It is a vineyard just 50 meters from the sea, ungrafted and resisting phylloxera for the moment. It is harvested by hand, selected in the vineyard, it is pressed and the flower wine goes to the stainless steel tank and the second press goes to used French oak barrels where it matures for 9 months. It is a white wine with good color, intense, iodized, dense and concentrated. As they say, a slap from the sea.
