Horacio Simoes Moscatel Roxo is a sweet fortified wine made with the Moscatel Roxo variety in the DOC Setúbal in Portugal, by the Simoes family. It is a small-production wine from a single 2.5-hectare vineyard planted on clay-calcareous soils. The Moscatel Roxo was recovered by the Simoes family and is reflected in this wonderful little fortified wine harvested with very low yields (less than 25hl/ha) with perfect maturation. Halfway through fermentation, it is stopped fortifying with an exceptional brandy, after which a very long aging in used French oak barrels follows. The final bottled wine comes from a selection of the best barrels. Only about 6000 bottles a year. A dark golden, spicy and mature wine, very round on the palate and with a very long finish. A little delicacy. Serve at 18 degrees.
