August Kesseler Berg Schlossberg Riesling Beerenauslese Goldkapsel is a sweet wine made by August Kesseler with the Riesling variety in the German Rheingau.

The grapes come from the Berg Schlossberg vineyard in Rudesheim, which has an abundance of slate, quartzite, loess and marl. It is one of the best vineyards in the winery. It is grown manually, in the same way that it is harvested, and has been vinified for more than ten years in stainless steel.

It is a wine of great delicacy, as recently recognized by Falstaff magazine, which awarded it 98 points. A meditation wine that will make an excellent after-dinner, it will go well with desserts and, for the more daring, it will accompany a Rossini sirloin.

August Kesseler took over the reins of the family winery in 1977, when he was only 19 years old and in the Rheingau area they mainly made bulk. At that time, the winery had only two and a half hectares of the more than 22 they have today. Today they have a magnificent heritage of vineyards in the best areas of the Rheingau such as Assmannshäuser Höllenberg, Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg, Rüdesheimer Bischofsberg, Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck or Lorcher Schlossberg. With a balanced production between Riesling and Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir), they are one of the best producers in the Rheingau and especially thanks to the quality of their reds. The technical team is made up of the winemaker Max Himstedt, a legend in the house, who was recently joined by the young Simon Batarseh, to direct, together with August Kesseler, the near future of this great house that surprises us more every year.
