Albert Mann Pinot Gris Selection de Grains Nobles is a sweet wine crafted by Albert Mann in the region of Wintzenheim, France. The Grand Cru Hengst has a history dating back to the 9th century, mentioned by the Murbach Abbey. The terroir consists of a conglomerate of marl and sandstone, with an exposure mainly to the south and southeast. The vines are approximately 30 years old. The Barthelmé family only produces this wine in years of great potential for dessert wines. The grapes are harvested manually, and the winemaking process includes a 24-hour vertical pressing, fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and aging on fine lees. The wine has not undergone any clarification process and presents a golden orange color, slightly coppery, with a radiant brilliance. On the nose, complex aromas of yellow fruits, almond paste, apricots, and quinces are perceived, with a tendency towards candied fruits. On the palate, it is dense and silky, with a complexity that reflects the terroir of Hengst. It is a voluminous wine, designed for future generations, with abundant dry extracts that provide richness and structure. It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 11°C. Perfect for contemplation, this wine will reach its peak within 20 years, especially when paired with roasted poultry with dried fruits.
