Description

El Grifo Malvasía Brut Nature Reserva is made from pre-phylloxera Malvasía Volcánica vines aged between 40-60 years, grown under a blanket of volcanic ash. Production is carried out using the Traditional Method and a minimum of 4 years of ageing in the bottle. Continuous disgorging of 2000 bottles is carried out, trying to maximise the freshness of the vintage.

They first made this natural sparkling wine using the Traditional Method (second fermentation in the bottle) in 1989. Three years earlier, they accidentally re-fermented a batch of bottles of Malvasía Semiseco, whose corks did not completely pop out of the bottle, and it was here that they saw that Malvasía Volcánica was suitable for making sparkling wines.
