Description
Garnacha Tintorera or Alicante Bouschet is one of the few grapes with skin and red pulp, the majority of red grapes are of p'white pulp. A variety very widespread throughout Spain, especially in the central and Mediterranean area, although the demand for more structured wines in the northwest of the country made it travel to Bierzo and Galicia where it was basically used for blending and thus obtain more meaty wines. Time made it fall into disuse due to the inclusion of other varieties, but in Monterrei, Jose Luis Mateo recovers it from old vineyards and produces a wine of elegance and finesse.
