Guerila Retro Red Selection is a red wine made by Zmagoslav Petric in the Vipavska Dolina Valley, in Slovenia, following biodynamic precepts. It is made with the Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Barbera varieties, which, as you may understand, are not very typically Slovenian. A priori, it is not a type of wine that should seem interesting to us, but the thing is... the wine is so good, that we have made an exception to our rule of bringing foreign wines mainly from native varieties. Zmagoslav Petric grows them biodynamically in the Preske and Zavrh vineyards. He selects the bunches in the vineyard, destems and macerates for a long time, gently presses and allows the must to decant. Native yeasts and spontaneous fermentation. The wine spends a year and a half in traditional large barrels, it is bottled without filtering and with minimal sulfur. The color is ruby ??red with violet reflections, extremely deep. The smell is very intense and luxurious. As the wine warms, it slowly opens. Complex aromas of ripe and dried plums, black berries, liquorice, undergrowth, Mediterranean spices and pepper intertwine. The elegant, full-bodied wine is harmonious, full of flavor with great smoothness and pleasant freshness.Guerila is the personal project of Zmagoslav Petric, a farmer's son who at the age of fifty decides to return to farming because, as he says, you can separate a man from his land, but you can never take the land from his heart. . So, in 2005, he searched for the most suitable farms to grow the native varieties in the Vipava Valley, and turned to biodynamics to produce some of the most energetic wines in Slovenia. Small productions, wines with great personality but at the same time very easy to drink and that, in addition, are very digestive.
