Description
Celler del Roure is the personal project of Pablo Calatayud, one of the architects of the recovery of the great Valencian reds. Made with international varieties and the native grape Mandó.

Robert Parker (94):
Their flagship classical red changed radically in 2016, and since then, it's been a blend of 80% Monastrell and 20% Cariñena. The 2019 Maduresa follows that recipe with a small adaptation, as the complement to Monastrell is now 10% each Cariñena and Mandó. It fermented with 30% full clusters and indigenous yeast in stainless steel and had only 10 months of aging in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels. It's austere with very integrated oak and great harmony, very Mediterranean and expressive, very harmonious and accessible at this very early age. This is without a doubt the vintage of Maduresa with more finesse, freshness and nuance. It might seem irrelevant, but I think the 10% (unoaked) Mandó has made a big difference... 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2020.
