Chateau Pape Clement Rouge 2018

RP96+ The Pape Clement 2018 is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels, 60% new. Medium to deep garnet purple in color, it bursts from the glass with vibrant notes of crushed black cherries, stewed black plums and black raspberries, followed by notes of violets, star anise, cardamom and camphor with a burst of iron ore. The medium to full bodied palate provides an invigorating energy, offering crisp black berries and layers of exotic spices with a solid framework of ripe, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, with a long, mineral-tinged finish. Still very primal, it will need a good 5 years in the bottle to deliver that next level experience and will drink for the next 30+ years.
