COS Frappato 2020Azienda Agricola Cos
The Frappato de Cos comes from vines planted for more than 15 years that are organically grown and ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeast. The delicacy of the variety and the terroir leads them to age the wine only in a cement tank and a subsequent short refinement in the bottle.
The Vittoria of Frappato is one of the most sensual grapes we know. With a very low layer, great florality, it is perfect for the soils of the Southeast of Sicily, composed of red earth of medium consistency with limestone and siliceous sands. Tradition has it that at the doors of this vineyard, in the shape of a Clos, the ancestors of the Antoine and Cécile Lequin were sheltered to pass the time while they waited for inclement weather that forced them to be alert. Made with red grape varietis such as Cainho Tinta, Alvearlhao and La Pedral, planted in Barcelos and Ponte da Lima. Grapes are destemmed and macerated 24 hours after fermentation, an undergo a short aging in used oak barrels. A wine of great finesse and very lively representative of the most interesting fresher wines from Portugal.
Escolinas Mezcla Canguesa is a wine made in the 21st century following the ancestral forms used by our grandparents for centuries. It is a tribute to women and men who, with their work, have allowed us to enjoy these impossible and unique vineyards today.
Petit Verdot planted in 1989 at 900 mtrs in rocky calcareous soils that retain water and allow freshness in the variety. It is at the limit of maturity almost every year and is usually harvested at the end. It has a classic cut, large barrels of little use. Lots of fruit, freshness and some fat.
Pythos Rosso is made with Frappato di Vittoria and Nero d'Avola planted more than a quarter of a century ago in the Bastonca area, in Southeast Sicily. Sandy-limestone soils, the grapes ferment spontaneously in terracotta amphorae. The aging continues in amphora and ends in the bottle.
