Moulin de La Lagune 2015 is a red wine from the AOC Haut Medoc in Bordeaux, France. It is the second wine of the Chateau, and in 2015, a great vintage, it is a great purchase that follows that adage of buying the great Chateaux in the younger years and the small Chateaux in the older years.

Harvested by hand from vines in biodynamic conversion, the wine is destemmed and vinified in steel and then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new. The wine is racked several times and clarified with egg white as is traditional in Bordeaux.

The soils of Chateau La Lagune come to be the paradigm of the soil of the Médoc. Gravels and silica in a terroir where Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot shine. The origin of the Chateau begins in 1525 when the town of La Lagune was built in the area and it was a few years later, in 1587, when Mr. Eyral regrouped several vineyards in a single property. It was elaborated wine until 1855, when La Lagune obtained the degree of Troisieme Grand Cru. Today it is in the hands of the Frey family and it is Caroline Frey who runs it. It is a property that makes very classic wines, the kind that can be a bit angular when young but turn into real clarets over time.
