Pontet Canet is a red wine made by the Tesseron family from their vineyards in Pauillac, in Bordeaux, France.Made with 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the medium to deep garnet purple Pontet-Canet 2017 offers wonderfully fragrant tea notes of rosehip, lilac, cinnamon stick , dried clove leaves and undergrowth with a heart of kirsch, raspberry coulis, warm plums, and red and black currants, plus a breath of pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate is refreshing, mineral and wonderfully elegant with a well-played texture of accessible, luxurious tannins and a long, fragrant finish. Handsome. The aging took place in 50% new barrels, 15% in second-fill barrels and the remaining 35% in amphorae for 16 months, much of the material coming from the land of Pontet-Canet! RP96
