José Mas, propietario de la bodega es ingeniero agrónomo y enólogo titulado en la escuela de Montpellier. Realizó prácticas y trabajó en Burdeos con profesionales tan reputados como los Moueix. Esa influencia francesa se ve reflejada en el estilo de sus vinos y en su propia personalidad, muy espartana de primeras pero, con el paso de los años, muestra un larguísimo recorrido hacia la elegancia. Sus Massuria siempre nos recuerdan al estilo aristocrático de los Burdeos de la orilla izquierda. Trabaja con cuatro hectáreas de viejo viñedo de Mencía que posee en propiedad. Ni compra uva, ni arrienda viñas y solo hace un vino. Lleva elaborando desde el año 2005, catorce mil botellas al año. Tanto en la viña como en la bodega nunca intenta estar por delante de la uva o el vino. En el viñedo realiza operaciones delicadas, nada agresivas, para que la uva llegue sana y de calidad, siempre en ecológico. En la bodega no utiliza tecnologías o recursos que borren el terruño. Es un defensor acérrimo de la personalidad del Bierzo. 2010 es la gran añada de la bodega desde 2005. Muy buen año, con muy buen tiempo. Los vinos fueron densos y poderosos con el tanino riguroso, lo que les permite envejecer adecuadamente y tras casi diez años en botella ha salido el lado más sabroso, maduro, sedoso, casi suculento. Un vino de categoría y raza. Crianza de doce meses en barricas francesas de uno, dos, tres y cuatro vinos, complementado con depósito de cemento. Añada corta con apenas 11.000 Botellas. Massuria 2010 no se asemeja a los Petrus que José Más tan bien conoce, pero los recuerdos nos acercan a alguno de los Grand Cru de Margaux o St Julien.
