Description

RP97-99 The Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2022 is a wine whose comparison with the magical 1982 from this estate does not seem unreasonable. Wafting from the glass with deep aromas of cassis, plums, violets, rose petals, tobacco leaves and pencil shavings, it is full-bodied, supple and meaty, with a layered, seamless fruit core that largely conceals its powder structured tannin structure. Concluding with a long, expansive and beautifully scented finish, it is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc that has the potential to match or even surpass the 2019 and 2016 vintages in this direction. It clocks in at a very classic 13.6% alcohol and a fairly high pH of 3.80.
