Description

Pizarras y Esquistos Mencía 2024 is a red wine from the Ribeira Sacra DO, produced by Ponte Da Boga using 100?% Mencía grapes grown on slate and schist soils along the Sil and Bibei rivers.

Deep violet-red in color, its nose reveals ripe black fruits, licorice, and a peppery spice backdrop, complemented by subtle red fruit and floral notes. On the palate, it is elegant and balanced, with a smooth entry, medium structure, and a persistent finish that reflects the distinct character of its terroir.

Vinification includes destemming and crushing, 10-day fermentation with gentle punch-downs, followed by an 8-day maceration. A 4-month maturation in second- and third-use French oak barrels adds complexity and smoothness while preserving the fresh expression of Mencía. Perfect with red meats, stews, cured charcuterie, and flavorful cheeses.
