Description

At Tenuta Montauto, Riccardo Lepri makes wines of great purity. We already had in our portfolio that Maremma Toscana that we liked so much. Now the winery has stopped making that wine but in exchange it offers us a monovarietal of Ciliegiolo, a minority variety in Tuscany, which they grow in the Maremma sub-area, about 200 meters above sea level that is barely 10km away. . It is an area of clayey soils with gravel, with a great thermal difference between day and night and that allows the wines to be tasty without losing freshness. Harvested by hand in small boxes of 18 kilos, it is vinified with a short maceration and an aging of about ten months in stainless steel and 30% acacia barrel. A versatile Italian red, which is drunk with joy and which transports us to Tuscany, which is not a bad place to travel.
