Vantorosso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2023

Vantorosso Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a red wine from the Italian Veneto region. It is made from grapes grown in the Valpolicella DOC, in Fumane, near Verona. The vines are planted at around 400 meters above sea level with southeast exposure, on highly varied soils where clay dominates, but with notable limestone and alluvial stone components as well.The grapes are hand-harvested at the end of September and vinified in stainless steel, where the wine also undergoes ageing for twelve months in tank, large oak cask, and amphora until bottling.Valpolicella Superiore represents a more structured and deeper version compared to the lighter, fresher Valpolicella Classico. This Superiore benefits from a minimum one-year ageing period and a slightly higher alcohol content, which lend it greater body, complexity, and a more enveloping texture. On the nose, it reveals ripe cherry notes, sweet spices, and a subtle balsamic undertone; the palate is harmonious, with fine tannins and a persistent finish that invites reflection—while retaining the freshness that characterises Vantorosso wines.Perfect alongside roasted meats, aged cheeses, or traditional dishes from northern Italy, it embodies the understated elegance and richness of a region that masterfully expresses its most intimate nuances.
