Arizcuren Monte Gatún 2023

Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo, from several plots in Villa de Quel, between 500 and 600 meters and facing north. Vinification in an open stainless steel tank and fermentation for 12/15 days. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and concrete tanks. As a result, a great wine, with a pleasant drink, with a moderate alcoholic strength and soft tannin.

When we speak with Javier Arizcuren, current owner of the Arizcuren project, we realize the tremendous respect he has for his family and his environment. It is the last generation of a family dedicated to wine, which has cared for vineyards since the end of the 19th century in the Sierra de Yecla, and works with determination to recover historical memory and thus preserve that viticultural heritage for which it feels responsible. For this, it has land and vineyards, between 30 and 120 years old, at altitudes between 530 and 800 meters at sea level, in which it has managed to rescue minority varieties, including some that have already disappeared in La Rioja, such as Tinta Velasco. or Calagraño.
