From a small plot in El Cepillo (Uco Valley). It's a cool, gently sloping area within a mostly flat vineyard, with very different soils and angular stones in a location with glacial moraine, which is completely different from the rest of the vineyard. This causes the grapes to ripen much earlier, resulting in a very strict and stony wine, with a textured palate and abundant powdery tannins.
Low yields due to moderate frosts in the Uco Valley, an early harvest, and perfect balance. Spring frosts, caused by a drier and slightly cooler climate, resulted in lower yields, and the Uco Valley Malbec decreased by 55%. Malbec responds to climate change by drastically reducing yields. Magnificent concentration, the high acidity characteristic of the cool climate, and explosive aromatics. Outstanding scores for the 2017 vintage: 96 points – Robert Parker (The Wine Advocate)
