Assmannshausen Pinot Noir is a dry red wine produced by August Kesseler Winery in the prestigious Rheingau region of Germany. This wine is made from Pinot Noir grown in the unique terroir of Assmannshausen, where the slate and quartzite soils contribute distinctive minerality and layers of complexity to this elegant expression of the variety. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by a meticulous selection process. Each parcel is vinified separately and blended just before bottling. The wine is aged in oak barrels, enhancing its character and adding notes of sophistication. The result is a Pinot Noir with a brilliant ruby color and a complex aroma dominated by red fruits and cherries, accompanied by subtle spicy nuances. On the palate, silky tannins frame a well-balanced flavor profile, featuring ripe fruit and a persistent, refined finish.Ideal for pairing with dishes such as grilled salmon, roast duck, coq au vin, or wild mushroom risotto. It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 14-16°C. With an aging potential of over 10 years, this Pinot Noir is a true gem of the Rheingau, combining tradition, innovation, and winemaking excellence.August Kesseler took over the family winery in 1977 at the age of just 19, at a time when bulk wine production dominated the Rheingau. Back then, the estate had only two and a half hectares, compared to the more than 22 hectares it owns today. Currently, the winery boasts an outstanding vineyard heritage in the best areas of the Rheingau, including Assmannshäuser Höllenberg, Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg, Rüdesheimer Bischofsberg, Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck, and Lorcher Schlossberg. With a balanced production between Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), August Kesseler is one of the region’s top producers, particularly known for the quality of its red wines. The technical team is led by legendary winemaker Max Himstedt, who has recently been joined by the young and talented Simon Batarseh to guide the winery’s future alongside August Kesseler. Each year, this great estate continues to impress with its exceptional wines.
