Antonio Madeira's Vinha da Serra is a red wine made with Tinta Amarela by Antonio Madeira in the Dão region, Portugal. This Vinha da Serra red wine is the expression of a unique plot. It is a small vineyard of 100 years, located at an altitude of 600 meters in the heart of Serra da Estrela, on a west-facing slope. This location provides a unique balance, with altitude bringing additional freshness and westward sun exposure enhancing maturation. The fine texture of the soil is reflected in the elegance of the tannins on the palate. In this vineyard, we find a field blend of several grape varieties, with Tinta Amarela being the dominant one, contributing to the feminine and delicate character of this wine with its perfume. A ""Grand Cru"" with identity that conveys a sense of harmony. The winemaking philosophy focuses on expressing the terroir of Serra da Estrela. Therefore, no oenological products were used except for sulfites. Alcoholic fermentation occurred naturally with indigenous yeasts, in a small vat. Minimal extraction was sought, working by ""infusion"" to achieve the elegance and finesse characteristic of the region. After pressing, the wine was transferred directly to a used French oak barrel, where it underwent malolactic fermentation until the following spring and matured for 18 months.Complex and profound wine, with great finesse and harmony, where the elements of the terroir of this unique plot are found. On the nose, complex aromas of granite, aromatic herbs, resins, fresh fruits, and flowers are appreciated, in a set of great finesse. On the palate, there is great freshness and finesse, with notes of powdered granite, ripe and crystalline fruit. The finesse of the tannins recalls the fine texture of the vineyard soil. The age of the vines, the complex blend of varieties, and the good handling provide density, depth, complexity, and minerality.
