Barón de Chirel is among the greatest brands in the history of Spanish winemaking. The grapes come from the Elciego and Laguardia regions, from the estates of Garcimoracho, Tapias, San Pelayo, Vialva, and La Collada. The soils are clayey-calcareous and from gravelly terraces of the Ebro River on a limestone base. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in Allier vats at 26°C. The plots are vinified separately. Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, always in fine-grained Allier vats, the wine is placed in Allier French oak barrels for aging for 16 months. Once bottled, the wine will remain in the bottle for at least two years. Herederos del Marqués de Riscal is a legendary and benchmark winery. Founded by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga in 1858, it continues to be managed today by some of their direct descendants. A winery with an impressive winemaking heritage, this is the Spanish winery and one of the only ones in the world that keeps vintages dating back to the 19th century in its cemetery. An exemplary winery, today it exports its wines to almost every country in the world.
