Marc Delienne makes his Abbaye Road from the Gamay variety from his vineyards located south-east of Fleurie (Beaujolais, France), where the soils are mainly sandy or silty, originating from primary rocks (granites) or old alluvium, sometimes with a very thin, stony cover and of shallow to medium depth.Marc sold his IT company and, in 2015, set up shop at Chateau de L'Abbaye to biodynamically make some of the most vibrant wines in all of Fleurie and, we would say, all of Beaujolais.Small yields, production in concrete using the carbonic maceration system, aging in foudres, give rise to wines that achieve great precision despite having minimal additions of sulfur. It is incredible to find that aromatic cleanliness in wines made in a minimally interventionist way.
