Description
Arroyo del Cabrito comes from vines located in Villaba de Los Barros with an average age of 8 years. It is a single-varietal Trincadeira, a grape widely used in the Alentejo and the Portuguese Douro. It was destemmed and gently crushed, transferring the must and skins to a 920-litre concrete tank where it fermented at a controlled temperature for 7 days, and then continued to macerate with its skins for 2 weeks. It was then removed from the vat and left in a concrete tank for a further 3 months. It remained in barrels for 6 months.
and then moved to a 300-litre used French oak barrel.

The philosophy of Castúo Wines is based on producing wines using native Extremadura varieties and Portuguese varieties adapted to the region, practising organic farming and minimal intervention, to faithfully transmit the wines that emerge from the soils of Tierra de Barros. The idea was born in 2013 by Fernando Rivas, a wine enthusiast. They work organically in their own vineyard in collaboration with local farmers who follow the guidelines set by the winery. The municipality of Villalba de los Barros is located about 15 km south of Almendralejo, in the Tierra de Barros region at an altitude of about 400 meters. The soils are a mixture of clay, granite, quartz and gneiss with a great capacity to retain the water that falls between autumn and spring. The climate is subtropical Mediterranean.
