Maçanita Douro Letra F 2023

Letra F is a red wine produced by the winemakers brothers Joana and António Maçanita in the Douro region of Portugal. This wine comes from vineyards located in Carlão, situated at altitudes ranging from 480 to 720 meters, which provides a cool and favorable climate for the cultivation of more than 20 varieties of white and red grapes.

The story behind Letra F is that the vineyards of the Douro were classified in ancient times with a letter code, from A to F, where A was the best possible classification for making Ports. Of course, what makes a great Port is sometimes not ideal when you want to make a dry red wine. Antonio and Joana take a turn and start making red wines of great elegance, finesse and freshness precisely with the vines that have the F classification.

The vinification of Letra F includes a cold pre-maceration, spontaneous fermentation in a lagarete and a 28-day cuvaison. The wine is aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks, which preserves its freshness and distinctive character.In the glass,

Letra F has a light ruby color. On the nose, mineral notes, white flowers and red fruits are perceived. On the palate, it is fresh and lively, with a marked acidity that highlights the intensity and aromatic concentration of the old vines.This wine is ideal to accompany dark-fleshed fish, tartares, grilled meats, cheeses and mild desserts. It is recommended to serve at 16ºC and enjoy at 18ºC to fully appreciate its complexity and freshness.
