Description
Chanzy Mercurey Clos du Roy Rouge is a white wine made by Maison Chanzy from Pinot Noir from their vineyards in Burgundy, France. The history of Clos du Roy dates back to 1477 when the last Duke of Burgundy died and his most beloved vineyard (Clos des Ducs) passed to the crown, becoming known as Clos du Roy. In this Mercurey Premier Cru, the Chanzys have almost two hectares of gentle slope, which they pamper as if it were a garden. Harvested by hand, it undergoes maceration with the whole bunch and a very gentle pump-over treatment to achieve finesse. It is aged for 18 months in 228 liter barrels, only 15% new. Beautiful bright red color, excellent black fruit and spices on the nose. Fine tannins due to vinification that does not seek to extract are balanced by excellent acidity. At the end of the mouth, a touch of cherry in liquor makes us think of terroirs on the golden slope.
