RP 93-95 A great success, the Léoville Barton 2021 relaxes in the glass with aromas of black currant, wild berries and plums mixed with hints of pencil shavings, clay earth and cigar wrapper. Medium to full bodied, deep and uniform, it is concentrated and taut, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and all the class that a high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon grown in deep gravel can provide. It is the first vintage vinified in the new Barton family winery, and I suspect that contributes to the ultra-refined quality of this year's tannin. The blend is 84% ??Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Medium to full bodied, deep and uniform, it is concentrated and taut, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and all the class that a high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon grown in deep gravel can provide.
