Description
Erupçao Volcanica is a red wine made by Filipe Rocha and Antonio Macanita from a host of native Portuguese varieties in their vineyards near the sea on Pico Island. It is a blend of three vintages, and made with Malvarisco, Bastardo, Rufete, Saborinho, Agronómica, Aragonés, Castelao and Touriga Nacional, among others, which are planted on volcanic rock right next to the sea, where the crabs are roasted. in the sun, and where it is necessary to create walls (currais) to protect the vines from the sea wind. Collected manually in 20-kilo boxes, it enters the tanks by gravity, and after spontaneous fermentation it is aged for an average of 30 months, half in stainless steel and half in oak barrels. A very fresh wine, like an eruption in the glass of open aromas of red fruit, smoked and sea breeze.
