Domaine des Ardoisieres Amèthyste is a red wine made by Brice Omont on the steep slopes of Savoy from Persan and Mondeuse Noire.
Amethyste is made from the vines that are in the Coteau de Cevins, on terraces facing south, with slopes that reach 60%. The soils here are schist, micaschist, poor and shallow. And, the yields, of just 25 hectoliters per hectare. It is vinified with whole cluster, indigenous yeasts and aged for 18 months in barrels. A wine for the long term.
Domaine des Ardoisieres is a small Savoyard producer at the qualitative peak of the region. It is a relatively young Domaine, born in 1998 when Michel Grisard decided to replant six hectares in the Coteau de Cevins. These are micaschist soils on terraces between Albertville and Moutiers, with a slope that can reach 70%, and which are cultivated biodynamically, giving a new meaning to the concept of heroic viticulture. It is in 2003 when Brice Omont arrives at the Domaine. Brice is an agricultural engineer, of Champenois origin, and he gave it great impetus until, in 2008, he became the owner and ultimate manager of some wines that, as we said before, are at the zenith of what Savoy wine can be. work recognized by the Revue de Vin de France, which named Ardoisieres the star producer in 2017. Here there are wines of great finesse, with native varieties such as Jacquere, Altesse or Mondeuse Blanche that accompany Chardonnay in the wines whites, and the Gamay, the Mondeuse and Persan in the reds.
