Vantorosso Valpolicella Ripasso 2019 is a red wine from the Italian Veneto. It is made from grapes planted in the Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore, in Fumane, near Verona. They are vines planted at about 400 meters of altitude with a southeast exposure, on very mixed soils in those that predominate the clay but with limestone component and of pebbles also.It is harvested by hand at the end of September and a first fermentation is carried out in stainless steel, then macerated with Amaraone skins where it is enriched (it is the ripasso). Then it is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and at least 7 months in the bottle.Bright red in color, on the nose you can see the ripasso in that delicious profile, ripe cherries and raspberries, with roses and violets. In the mouth it is soft and warm, it has a lot of fruit (and about three grams of residual sugar) but it is also saline. It goes great with a roast or meat stew, even game, but it also goes great with grilled meat and also medium-aged cheeses.
