Clos Ibai Graciano is a red wine made by Dani Frías at Clos Ibai, using the Graciano variety that is planted in many of the family's old vineyards in Rioja. We are not dealing here with a single-plot wine, but rather a wine made with fruit harvested about two weeks later than the rest of the planted varieties. This is the Graciano, a variety of late maturation. The wine is harvested in mid-October, is made with a whole cluster and is aged in a 500-litre oak foudre for 10 months. Then it is refined in the bottle rack. A wine that claims the leading role for this Rioja variety that is pure character.

But, in the area, there are very old vineyards, naturally protected, as if they were Burgundian clos, which are being lost due to lack of attention and profitability. Those clos are heritage, and Clos Ibai decides to buy them, rent them and, ultimately, give them a present and a future. They grow them organically, with the purpose of certifying them (some already are), without pretending to be a great winery. It will always be a small project. A project to bottle terroir wines, microvinifications with character and personality
