"La Bota de Brandy de Jerez 134 “Bota Punta” is a Solera Gran Reserva Brandy de Jerez produced by Equipo Navazos from extremely fine pot-still holandas, aged in a tiny solera resting at the Fernando de Castilla cellars in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.Very old and extremely limited in production, it comes from the third of three carefully chosen butts, the sibling of those that gave birth to La Bota de Brandy editions 29 and 43. After some twenty-five years of ageing in casks that previously held fino from El Puerto de Santa María, the spirit has gradually shed its youthful fruit to become a brandy of serene depth, where finesse and elegance prevail over sheer power or sweetness. The delicately seasoned butts contribute subtle hints of biological ageing without imposing an overtly vinous profile, always respecting the purity of the distillate. In the glass it shows a bright, clean golden colour. The nose is poised and finely etched, with notes of delicate dried fruit, suggestions of dried stone fruits, hints of fine woods, citrus peel, gentle spices and a subtle echo of the fino casks that raised it. On the palate it is radically dry, enveloping and very long, with a silky texture and the precision of a spirit of the highest quality, far removed from the sweetened, dense, strongly vinous brandies: here austerity, elegance and depth take the lead. This is a brandy made for contemplation: served neat, slightly cool, it shines at the end of a meal, in long after-dinner conversations or alongside a fine cigar. Its style, closer to serious, refined Cognacs than to the sweet and heavily coloured brandies so popular in Spain, proudly asserts its identity as a true Brandy de Jerez, underlined by long ageing in the Barrio de Santiago and by the unmistakable character of the excellent fino casks in which it has rested.
