A project born in Porrera

Les Cousins is located in Porrera, one of the most emblematic areas of Priorat. This territory, marked by slate soils, continental climate and demanding viticulture, gives the wines concentration, depth, minerality and a highly recognizable expression of the landscape.

Although Marc and Adrià already came from families deeply connected to wine, they needed to build something of their own. They wanted to make wines that spoke of Priorat, but from a less classic, less solemn and freer perspective. Their goal was to move away from the image of very expensive, rustic and difficult wines, seeking fresher, more accessible, younger and more drinkable references.

Marc and Adrià Pérez: two cousins united by wine

Marc and Adrià have lived almost parallel lives. From a very young age, they understood the value of terroir and the unique character of Priorat thanks to direct contact with their family vineyards and wineries. But Les Cousins was also born from their travels and learning experiences away from home. France, especially Bordeaux and the Rhône, left an important mark on their way of understanding wine. A different vision of Priorat

When Les Cousins began to take shape, Priorat was strongly associated with powerful, concentrated and highly structured wines. Marc and Adrià, without giving up the identity of the region, wanted to open another path: wines with less weight, more fluidity, more freshness and a more relaxed personality.

This search does not mean making simple wines. On the contrary, Les Cousins works with the depth of Priorat, but tries to make the wine feel closer and more enjoyable. Their wines preserve minerality, Mediterranean character and complexity, but with a lighter, more direct and contemporary energy.

The project began to take shape in 2007, when Marc and Adrià had the opportunity to buy quality grapes from winegrowers in Porrera. From there came Sagesse, the first wine of Les Cousins and one of its most personal references.

It is a wine that connects with the landscape of Porrera, with the concentration of Priorat and with the memory of its vineyards. L’Inconscient: the most accessible and drinkable Priorat

With L’Inconscient, first bottled in 2009 and released to the market in 2010, Les Cousins came much closer to the idea they had been seeking from the beginning: a fresh, drinkable, accessible wine designed for a younger audience.

L’Inconscient is one of the winery’s most recognizable references. Its name already reflects part of the project’s character: less rigidity, more freedom and a more spontaneous way of enjoying Priorat. L’Antagonique and breaking the rules

L’Antagonique was born from Marc and Adrià’s desire to do something different. After building their own recognizable image, they wanted that break from convention to be felt in the wines as well. This wine shows the personality of Les Cousins very clearly: curiosity, creativity and a constant desire to experiment. L’Antagonique does not try to fit into a conventional category, but rather expresses a free way of working with varieties and territory.

Donzell and the most aromatic side of the project

Donzell was born from another different search. Instead of making a traditional vermouth with added alcohol, Marc and Adrià began working with a wine base and macerations of fresh herbs and spices until they found their own recipe.

The result is a reference connected to the idea of aperitif, terrace and enjoyment, while maintaining the experimental spirit of Les Cousins. Donzell expands the winery’s universe and shows that the project is not limited to making classic Priorat wines, but also plays with new formats and moments of consumption.
