Más información sobre Chateau Simone

A Historic Estate of Provence

Château Simone is one of the most legendary domaines in Provence and the absolute benchmark of the small Palette appellation.

The Rougier family has managed the estate since 1830 and played a fundamental role in the historical recognition of the AOC Palette.

Jean Rougier was instrumental in obtaining the official appellation status for Château Simone in 1946 and later for the AOC Palette in 1948.

A Unique Terroir in Palette

The vineyard is located near Aix-en-Provence, on the north-facing slopes of the Montaiguet massif and facing the Sainte-Victoire mountain.

The soils are mainly composed of Langesse limestone mixed with clay, stones, and gravel, bringing minerality and depth to the wines.

The presence of the Arc River and surrounding pine forests creates an exceptional microclimate that protects the vineyard from the extreme Provençal heat and promotes slow, balanced ripening.

A Historic and Exclusive Appellation

AOC Palette is one of the smallest and most exclusive appellations in France.

The vineyard area covers barely 50 hectares, and Château Simone represents a large part of its historic production.

The appellation allows the production of white, red, and rosé wines made from traditional Mediterranean grape varieties.

Grape Varieties and Old Vines

The white wines are produced mainly from Clairette, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc.

The reds and rosés combine Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault alongside other historic Provençal varieties.

Many vines are over one hundred years old and were replanted after the phylloxera crisis, bringing remarkable complexity and personality to the wines.

Traditional Winemaking and Aging Potential

The Rougier family preserves traditional winemaking methods passed down through generations.

The wines age slowly and are renowned for their exceptional aging potential, something uncommon in Provence.

In particular, Château Simone’s whites and rosés are internationally recognized for their ability to evolve beautifully for decades in bottle.

Style and Personality of the Wines

Château Simone wines stand out for their elegance, freshness, and aromatic complexity.

The whites reveal mineral notes, ripe fruit, Mediterranean herbs, and great depth.

The reds combine red fruit, spices, and earthy characteristics with a refined texture.

The rosés are considered by many enthusiasts to be among the finest gastronomic and age-worthy rosés in the world.
