Château Ausone, the historic soul of Saint-Émilion

Château Ausone is much more than a wine: it is one of Bordeaux’s great icons, located in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Its name pays tribute to the Roman poet Ausonius, reflecting a legacy that dates back to antiquity and makes this estate one of the most historic and unique in the region.

Our history

Set on limestone slopes, the vineyard’s origins date back to Roman times, while the modern estate took shape in the 18th century. Over generations, different families have contributed to its development, always maintaining a focus on quality and excellence.

Our philosophy

Château Ausone’s uniqueness lies in its exceptional terroir: limestone soils combined with clay and a privileged exposure. With a very small vineyard of around 7 hectares, each plot is carefully managed to fully express its identity.

Our passion

The blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot produces wines of remarkable depth, elegance, and longevity. With extremely limited production, each bottle of Château Ausone represents centuries of expertise, making it one of the most sought-after wines in the world.
