At Coalla Gourmet, we present Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana, a historic winery in the Jerez region, founded in 1792 by Don Pantaleón José Hidalgo. A native of Santander, Hidalgo arrived in Sanlúcar to manage some salt flats and ended up becoming the owner of a small family winery, building a legacy that now spans its eighth generation. It is the fourth oldest winery in Spain and the second 100% family-owned, maintaining the tradition and spirit of Jerez winemaking intact.

A history of expansion and international prestige

In the second half of the 19th century, Don Eduardo Hidalgo spearheaded the winery's expansion by traveling to the United States, England, and France, and showcasing his wines at various World's Fairs. Thanks to his vision, the Hidalgo brand established itself in international markets and gained recognition for the quality and uniqueness of its wines.
