A family with 12 generations of winemaking

Domaine Raquillet is a family-owned winery located in Mercurey, in the Côte Chalonnaise.

The family’s winemaking history spans more than twelve generations, something that in Burgundy is not just tradition—it is identity.

François Raquillet took over the domaine in 1990 together with his wife Emmanuelle, consolidating a distinctive style within Mercurey.

Mercurey: the serious side of the Côte Chalonnaise

The vineyard covers around 14 hectares, including Village and Premier Cru parcels.

The soils alternate between deep marls and more limestone-rich terrain, creating a wide range of expressions within the same appellation.

This combination produces wines that can be either structured or refined, depending on the parcel.

Demanding, fully manual vineyard work

Vineyard work is precise and consistent: strict pruning, yield control, and viticulture aimed at ecological balance.

A respectful approach is applied, with worked soils and manual harvesting to ensure grape quality.

Each cluster is carefully selected before entering the winery.

Winemaking without shortcuts

In the cellar, the philosophy is clear: minimal intervention and respect for the raw material.

Fermentations with indigenous yeasts, controlled macerations, and the use of French oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new oak each year.

The goal is not to mask the wine, but to refine it.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with Burgundian identity

The red wines, based on Pinot Noir, show precise red fruit, elegant structure, and fine tannins.

The whites, made from Chardonnay, combine texture, freshness, and a mineral character typical of Mercurey’s soils.

These are balanced wines with ageing potential and a coherent evolution in bottle.

A winery in constant evolution

Since 2018, the next generation has joined the domaine, ensuring continuity and adaptation.

The move toward more sustainable and certified viticulture is part of the project’s near future.
