Heritage and Vision

At Catena Zapata, exceptional wines begin in the vineyard. Since 1902, the Catena family has been dedicated to unlocking the potential of Mendoza’s high-altitude terroirs. Their Adrianna Vineyard, situated nearly 5,000 feet above sea level, is known as the Grand Cru of South America.

Vineyards and Terroir

Catena Zapata operates six historic estate vineyards: Angélica, La Pirámide, Nicasia, Domingo, Adrianna, and Angélica Sur. Each vineyard benefits from unique microclimates, extreme altitudes, and well-draining soils, naturally limiting yields, slowing grape maturation, and enhancing complexity and balance.

Iconic varietals such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay are cultivated, along with high-altitude plantings that produce wines of remarkable elegance, structure, and typicity.

Winemaking Philosophy

Led by Nicolás Catena Zapata, the winery follows a philosophy of innovation and precision. Inspired by Napa, Bordeaux, and historic European viticulture, the family practices minimal intervention, scientific insight, and meticulous vineyard selection.
