The origin and figure of Eulogio Pomares

Eulogio Pomares is one of the leading names in contemporary Galician viticulture. His career is closely linked to the family winery Zárate, located in the Salnés Valley (Rías Baixas), where he combines tradition, innovation, and deep respect for the vineyard.

His training in France and Germany shaped his vision of wine, bringing a more technical perspective while always focusing on terroir and the identity of each vineyard plot.

Rías Baixas and the Salnés Valley

His work is mainly based in Ribadumia, within the Salnés Valley, one of Galicia’s most emblematic areas for Albariño cultivation.

Here, the Atlantic climate, humidity, and granite soils create wines that are fresh, mineral, and full of identity, with a strong maritime influence.

Fento Wines and personal projects

One of Eulogio Pomares’ most important projects is Fento Wines, created to explore new ways of interpreting Galician vineyards.

This project seeks to express the diversity of Galicia and other territories through freer, more experimental wines with strong personal character.
